Data you choose to save

After you invoke capture, the extension reads the selected text, source URL and page title. You can also paste text or import a backup. Saved entries include capture dates, classifications, review status and notes. Evidence Board also stores supplier names and comparison criteria.

Selected content may contain personal information, such as a name or email address in a review. Remove details you do not need. Do not save passwords, payment details or confidential information you are not authorised to process.

Captured URLs have query parameters and fragments removed. The extensions do not read your full browsing history, monitor browsing in the background, record keystrokes or extract authentication tokens. They contain no advertising or analytics SDK.

Local storage and AI

Each extension keeps its own collections in Chrome's local extension storage. It does not create an Amalgama account or sync collections to our servers.

Optional semantic search and suggestions use a bundled English MiniLM model, Transformers.js and WASM on your device. Model files are packaged with the extension. Running these features does not send your text or queries to Amalgama, Hugging Face or an AI provider.

Optional transfer to Amalgama

When you choose “Analyze in Amalgama”, select entries and review the transfer preview. After your confirmation and optional site-access permission, the extension opens a new Amalgama tool tab and fills its visible form.

• Evidence Board transfers selected supplier names, source URLs, excerpts and comparison criteria to the competitor comparison tool.
• Feedback Radar transfers selected comment text to the customer feedback analyzer.

Private assessment notes are excluded. Captured text and source identifiers are not placed in the navigation URL. Website links contain fixed campaign labels that identify the extension, not an individual user. Existing website drafts are not overwritten.

The chosen data becomes available to the website when its form is filled. The extension does not submit the analysis. You review the website's consent notice and start processing there. Server analysis uses Amalgama's Netlify functions and Google AI services. That processing is separate from the bundled local model. The website privacy policy describes website hosting, technical logs, analytics choices and contact data. Google's Gemini API terms describe its service's data handling. Do not transfer confidential or personal data without the necessary authority.

Purpose and limited use

We use extension data only to provide the functions described here: collecting, organising, reviewing, searching, exporting and analysing the entries you choose. We do not sell extension user data, use it for advertising, use it for unrelated purposes or use it to determine creditworthiness or make lending decisions.

Transfers are limited to those needed for the requested functions, security or compliance with applicable law. We do not routinely read your captured content. Human access is limited to your explicit agreement for specific content, security investigations or legal requirements.

Amalgama Evidence Board and Amalgama Feedback Radar handle user data in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Why the extensions need permissions

Active tab and scripting permissions allow capture after you invoke it. Context menus provide the right-click capture action, side panel displays the workspace, and storage saves collections. Optional access to amalgama.online fills the website form only after confirmation. The extensions do not request persistent access to all websites.

Retention, deletion and security

Local collections remain until you delete them, clear extension data or uninstall. The latest deletion can be undone until another deletion or uninstall. Pending captures use session storage and are cleared when the browser session ends.

You can review and edit entries, export a JSON backup or delete collections in the extension. Remove downloaded exports and backups separately. Uninstalling does not delete copies you saved elsewhere or data you already transferred to a website.

The extensions do not add encryption to local Chrome storage. Anyone with access to your browser profile may be able to access it. Website transfers use HTTPS. Protect your device and use only content appropriate for that environment.

For data already shared with Amalgama, contact info@amalgama.online to request access, correction or deletion. We cannot recover or remotely delete a collection that exists only in your browser. Website and provider retention terms apply to data processed outside the extension.
